Community residents and passersby will no longer wonder who exactly occupies the formerly
non-descript white building on the corner of 28th & Troost Avenue. In December, the Kansas
City Urban Youth Center hosted a holiday open house, culminating with the unveiling of a
new outdoor sign. "We're excited to officially 'brand' ourselves as a permanent participant
in our community," shared Chuck Sailors, KCUYC founder and president/CEO. "While a new sign
doesn't change anything about what we do as an organization, we are now able to proudly
communicate who we are and that we're here to stay!" More than 130 individuals attended the
open house, including students and their families, KCUYC volunteers and Board of Directors,
and representatives from the city and surrounding communities. Special thanks to the following
organizations who assisted in making this event happen:
Midtown Signs,
Pleasant Valley (Mo.) Baptist Church,
Nazarene Publishing House,
Green's Remodeling, and
The Filling Station.
