The mission of the Kansas City Urban Youth Center (KCUYC) is to offer urban youth hope,community, and wholeness. We believe that it is through loving, dependable relationships, positive educational opportunities, and physically- and emotionally-safe environments that our students can learn to build positive relationships, positive self-esteem, and positive motivations for their future success. 

KCUYC currently works with young leaders in three communities across the Kansas City metropolitan area. The goal of the organization's programs is to empower youth to achieve academically, serve in their communities, and thrive in healthy relationships. 

Our everyday mission happens when caring adults -- during the school year and throughout the summer -- engage in the lives of youth through activities including:  

• Academic tutoring and literacy training
• Nutrition and healthy choices curriculum
• Community gardening
• Daily physical activity and fitness training
• Play therapy 
• Student leadership team
• Community-organizing
