After-School Program Expands
by Jared Willemin(KCUYC Program Coordinator)

This year the Center was invited by Phoenix Family Housing to begin connecting with youth and their families at East Hills Village—now the second KCUYC apartment complex site! Every year, Phoenix Family Housing helps almost 5,000 people by providing affordable housing communities. It is indeed our privilege to work with them and serve youth and their families at East Hills Village.

We’re excited about this new partnership not only because it marks a significant step in serving even more youth and families in Kansas City, but also because it has given us more physical space to do what we do well—offer a community of hope, meaningful relationships and wholeness to young people.

The KCUYC has begun weekly programming including homework help and recreation opportunities for youth in 5th through 8th grades. All on-site programs and activities will be offered at the new community center, computer lab, baseball field, outdoor volleyball courts and gymnasium on the East Hills Village property.

Through this new partnership, we have opportunities for more volunteer involvement and support. If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of a young person’s life, please contact us at volunteer@kcurbanyouthcenter.org.
