Your Corner of the Center

The building up of the NPH warehouse has been a labor of love . . . but more than bricks and pipes and paint, this work will always be a symbol for us of the many people whose lives and relationships are now represented in the space there. We could point to the walls that youth groups in Pekin, IL and Lenexa, KS painted, or the computer lab that a staff, student and parent painted, a wall built by volunteers from Lawrence, the roof that Charlie and his crew repaired, the plumbing contribution from Denny, a room painted by staff, a bathroom painted by Stefon, the electrical completed by Mark, the carpentry for done by Isaac, the heating and cooling work done by George, the many weekends that Dan and his crews have worked on the floors and walls . . . and the list goes on.
And so this building has become so much more than our new space at the corner of 28th and Troost, but for all of us this new facility–each corner of this warehouse–will remind us of a person, a relationship, a story, and a journey. We will see the blue walls in the computer lab and always think to pray for our most recent graduate Ciarra as she starts her new journey in college, we will see carpet on the floors and think of many friends from the Westside of Olathe, and we will soon be teaching and playing in our new program space and remember how YOU have partnered with us to grow from a staff of one to a group of 11 strong staff members and student leaders who are caring well for those in our communities across Kansas City.
So thank you for the gifts you are making, thank you for the financial support you continue to give, thank you for investing in relationships with our young leaders, and for all of the time you are spending “building” the future of the Center together for the young leaders at the KCUYC.
